The blue represents Idaho's skies and mountains, the gold and red signify the state's natural resources and the sun, and the seal's imagery honors the state's history and industries. Designed by Emma Edwards Green in 1907, the flag was adopted by the state legislature in 1909 and has remained unchanged since.
